Daughters of the holy cross
The Daughters of the Holy Cross is an Anglican lay religious order of women who take a lifetime vow to live by the Rules of the Order. We are women who have committed our lives to the work and service of our Lord Jesus Christ. We pray daily for our Church, the clergy, the Order and others in need. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and equipped with the powerful sword of truth as contained in the Holy Bible, we reach out to those who do not know Jesus to share His message of salvation through word and deed. We wear our cross continually as a symbol of Jesus' sacrifice and our need for him to be Lord of our lives. The cross each daughter wears is blessed and is issued at the time of her vows. In community with our sisters, we are strengthened and encouraged to keep our fourfold Vow of Prayer, Service, Study and Evangelism.
Each candidate for the Order is required to undergo a three-month preparatory period of study of the Order under an avowed sister. This is a time of discernment, prayer and self-examination. Becoming a Daughter of the Holy Cross is a calling upon the Candidate's life and she must take her vows most seriously.
The Order of Daughters of the Holy Cross was instituted September 12, 2009 at Holy Cross Anglican Church in Loganville, Georgia. The Order was instituted at St. Jude's in the Mountains Anglican Church, Tehachapi, California on January 10, 2010. Daughters willingly serve the church in numerous capacities.
If you feel you have been called to a life as described here and are a confirmed Anglican, please call St. Jude's at 822-3607 or email: [email protected] , and you will be contacted by a member of the Order.
